Wedding Anniversaries

The Wedding Anniversaries list shows couples in the directory with an upcoming anniversary within a configurable number of days. Like the birthdays list it works both in the admin dashboard and as an embeddable shortcode or block on your website, with options to show years married, email addresses, and phone numbers.

In the admin dashboard

Go to Church Admin → Key Dates → Wedding Anniversaries. The list shows all couples with an anniversary in the next 31 days by default, ordered by the next upcoming anniversary date. All records are included regardless of privacy settings when viewed from the admin area.

On your website

You can embed the anniversaries list on any page using the shortcode or the Church Admin block:

When displayed on the website, only couples where the head of household has set themselves to visible on the directory and has a GDPR reason recorded are shown. Place this on a members-only page to keep it appropriate. See Members only content.

How couples are displayed

The list is compiled at household level — one row per couple rather than one row per person. Names are displayed intelligently depending on whether the couple share a surname:

  • Shared surname — displayed as John & Jane Smith
  • Different surnames — displayed as John Smith & Jane Jones

Church Admin is used by congregations worldwide and the name display reflects that — couples with different surnames, whether by cultural convention, personal choice, or naming tradition, are handled correctly without any special configuration needed.

Shortcode parameters

The shortcode accepts several parameters to customise what is displayed:

  • deltadays — how many days ahead to look for anniversaries (default: 31). For example deltadays="14" shows only the next two weeks.
  • member_type_id — comma-separated list of member type IDs to include. Omit to include all member types.
  • people_type_id — comma-separated list of people type IDs to include.
  • showAge — set to TRUE to show how many years the couple have been married alongside the anniversary date. Default is not to show years.
  • email — set to TRUE to add an email column. Useful for a staff-facing page where you want to send a personal message.
  • phone — set to TRUE to add a phone column with a clickable call link.

How the list is ordered

Anniversaries are ordered by the next upcoming occurrence from today’s date. The list correctly wraps around the end of the year — in December it will include January anniversaries at the end of the list rather than missing them. Within the same date, couples are listed alphabetically by last name.

Requirements

Couples only appear on the list if a wedding anniversary date is stored on their household record. If your list looks sparse, use Church Admin → People → Bulk edit anniversaries to add missing dates across your whole directory at once. See Bulk edit anniversaries.

The marital status of the head of household must also be set to Married for the anniversary date to be recognised. Check this on individual records if a couple isn’t appearing as expected.

Automated anniversary emails

As well as this manual list, Church Admin can send automated anniversary congratulations emails directly to couples on their anniversary, and a daily digest email to staff listing that day’s anniversaries.
