The Upload Sermon screen lets you add a new sermon to Church Admin — entering the details and linking to the audio, video, or document file. Sermons appear on your public-facing sermon page, in the podcast feed, and in the Our Church app.

Go to Church Admin → Media → Add sermon.

Sermon details

Title

The sermon title as it appears on the website, podcast feed, and app. Required.

Subtitle

An optional secondary title or description shown below the main title on the sermon listing.

Speaker

The name of the preacher. Shown on the sermon listing and used as a filter option. Type the name directly — speakers are stored as free text rather than directory entries, so visiting preachers can be entered without needing a directory record.

Date

The date the sermon was preached. Defaults to today. This date is used to sort the sermon listing and to set the publication date in the podcast feed.

Service

Select which service the sermon was preached at from the dropdown. This links the sermon to a service record and is used for filtering on the sermon listing screen.

Series

Optionally assign the sermon to a series — for example Advent 2025 or The Sermon on the Mount. Series group related sermons together on the public page and in the podcast feed. Series are created and managed in Church Admin → Media → Sermon series. See Sermon series.

Bible passage

The scripture reference for the sermon — for example John 3:16 or Romans 8:1-17. Shown on the sermon listing and in the podcast feed description.

Description

An optional longer description of the sermon — a summary, a key quote, or a few sentences about what it covers. Shown on the public sermon page and included in the podcast feed episode description. HTML is supported.

Image

An optional image shown alongside the sermon — useful for series artwork, a speaker photo, or a graphic associated with the theme. Select from the WordPress Media Library or upload a new image. This image is also used as the podcast episode artwork if no series image is set.

Media files

Audio file

The sermon audio. Three options are available:

  • Upload — upload an MP3 or other audio file directly to your WordPress media library. Suitable for smaller files and sites with generous hosting storage. Note that large audio files can quickly consume hosting storage allowances — consider one of the external options below for regular uploading.
  • External URL — paste a direct link to an audio file hosted elsewhere — Amazon S3, SoundCloud, or any other audio hosting service. The file plays through the Church Admin audio player on your website without being stored on your server. See Using SoundCloud in sermons and Using Amazon AWS S3 cloud for sermons.
  • WordPress media library — select an audio file already uploaded to your media library rather than uploading a new one

Sermons with an audio file are included in the podcast RSS feed automatically. See Podcasting.

Video

An optional video link for the sermon. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, or other video embed URL. The video appears on the sermon page alongside or instead of the audio player. See Full width video embed and Latest YouTube video.

Document

An optional downloadable file — sermon notes, a study guide, or a handout in PDF or Word format. Appears as a download link on the sermon page.

Document description

A label for the download link — for example Sermon notes or Study guide. If left blank the filename is used instead.

Display options

Show on public page

Tick to make the sermon visible on the public-facing sermon page on your website. Leave unticked to save a draft that is visible only in the admin dashboard — useful for entering sermon details in advance before making it live, or for keeping internal teaching sessions private.

Allow sharing

Tick to show social sharing buttons on the sermon page. When ticked, visitors can share the sermon to Facebook and other platforms directly from the sermon page. See Sharing to Facebook.

Saving

Click Save sermon. The sermon appears in the sermon listing immediately. If Show on public page is ticked, it is visible on your website straight away and included in the next podcast feed update.
