Daily Birthdays and Anniversaries Email

⭐ Premium

The daily combined email sends a single daily message to everyone in the directory covering both that day’s birthdays and wedding anniversaries together. If you’re already sending separate birthday and anniversary digest emails, use this instead to reduce the number of emails your congregation receives. It respects individual communications preferences — anyone who has opted out of emails will not receive it.

Go to Church Admin → Key Dates → Daily both email.

Email template

Set the subject line and message body using the WordPress editor. The combined email has a richer set of shortcodes than the individual birthday or anniversary emails, designed to handle days when only birthdays occur, only anniversaries occur, or both occur:

  • [birthday_text]...[/birthday_text] — wraps text that should only appear if there are birthdays that day. If no birthdays occur, everything between these tags is hidden. Use this to introduce the birthday section.
  • [birthdays] — inserts an HTML table of that day’s birthdays. Place this after the [birthday_text] section.
  • [anniversary_text]...[/anniversary_text] — wraps text that should only appear if there are anniversaries that day. If no anniversaries occur, everything between these tags is hidden.
  • [anniversaries] — inserts an HTML table of that day’s anniversaries. Place this after the [anniversary_text] section.

The default template gives you a good starting point and shows how these shortcodes work together:

[birthday_text]Here are the birthdays being celebrated today. Why not drop them a message with a blessing![/birthday_text]
[birthdays]
[anniversary_text]Here are the anniversaries being celebrated today. Why not drop them a message with a blessing![/anniversary_text]
[anniversaries]

On a day with only birthdays, the anniversary section is hidden entirely. On a day with both, both sections appear. On a day with neither, the email is not sent at all.

Enabling the automation

Tick the Send email to people about all the birthdays and anniversaries that day checkbox to enable the automation, then select the member types who should receive it. Click Save. The automation is scheduled to run from 6am the following morning and repeats daily.

To disable it, untick the checkbox and save. The scheduled automation is removed immediately.

This or separate emails?

Use the combined email if you want to keep things simple and minimise the number of automated emails your congregation receives. Use the separate daily birthdays and daily anniversaries emails instead if you want more control over the audience or timing for each type, or if your church culture treats birthdays and anniversaries as distinctly different communications.

You should not run both the combined email and the separate birthday/anniversary digest emails simultaneously — your congregation would receive duplicate information. Pick one approach and stick with it.
