The Acts module helps individuals in your church set intentional goals for getting to know people and sharing their faith — small, courageous steps that add up to a culture of outreach.

The name comes from the book of Acts, where the early church grew not through programmes but through ordinary people having extraordinary conversations. This module gives your congregation a simple, private way to set those intentions and track them over time.

What is an Act?

An Act is a personal goal that someone sets for themselves. It might be something like:

  • Inviting a neighbour for coffee
  • Praying regularly for five people they know who don’t yet have faith
  • Having a conversation about faith with a work colleague
  • Joining a community group to build new friendships

Acts are personal and private — they belong to the individual, not to the church admin team. Leaders can see aggregate numbers and encourage participation, but the detail of what someone has committed to is their own.

How it works

The Acts module works on two levels:

For individuals

Church members log in to the church website or app and set their own Acts — goals they want to commit to. They can mark Acts as complete when they’ve followed through, and set new ones as they grow in confidence.

For leaders

From the Acts screen in the Church Admin dashboard, leaders and admins can see who has engaged with the module, view overall participation, and encourage those who haven’t yet set any goals — without ever seeing the private detail of what individuals have committed to.

Finding the Acts screen

In your WordPress dashboard, go to Church Admin → Acts. You’ll need to have the Acts module enabled — if you don’t see it in the menu, go to Church Admin → Settings → Choose modules and make sure Acts is switched on.

What you can do from the Acts screen

  • View participation — see how many people in your directory have set Acts
  • Record an Act on behalf of someone — useful when someone shares a goal in a conversation or small group and wants it noted
  • Configure Act types — set up the categories of Act your church wants to encourage, so people have helpful prompts when setting their goals
  • View completed Acts — celebrate what God has been doing as people follow through on their commitments

Displaying Acts on your website

Members can set and view their own Acts through a page on your website. You’ll need to create a page and add the Acts shortcode to it, then make sure logged-in members can find it — either through your navigation menu or the Church Admin app.

Tips for encouraging participation

  • Introduce it in a sermon or small group series on outreach — Acts works best when it’s connected to a wider conversation about faith-sharing, not just quietly added to the website
  • Set some Acts yourself first — leaders modelling the habit makes a big difference to uptake
  • Keep it low-pressure — the goal is courage, not performance; remind people that an Act is a personal intention, not a public commitment
  • Celebrate completions — when people share stories of conversations they’ve had or relationships they’ve built, it encourages others to step out too
