Sermon Series let you group related sermons together under a single title — for example an Advent series, a teaching series on a book of the Bible, or a thematic collection. Series are listed on the public sermon page and in the podcast feed, making it easy for people to find and follow a complete series. This screen lists all your series and gives you the shortcode for each one.

Go to Church Admin → Media → Sermon series.

The series list

All sermon series are listed in reverse chronological order — the series with the most recent sermon first. Each row shows:

  • Series name — the title of the series
  • Image — the series artwork thumbnail, if one has been set
  • Files — the number of sermons currently assigned to this series
  • Shortcode — a ready-to-use shortcode to display this series on any page of your website. Copy it directly from this column.
  • Edit — opens the series to update its name, description, or image
  • Delete — removes the series after confirmation

Adding a series

Click Add a sermon series at the top of the screen. Fill in:

  • Series name — the title of the series as it appears on the website and podcast feed
  • Description — an optional summary of what the series covers, shown on the public sermon page
  • Series image — artwork for the series, shown alongside the series title on the sermon page and used as the podcast artwork for episodes in this series. Select from the WordPress Media Library or upload a new image. Square images work best for podcast artwork.

Save and the series is immediately available to assign to sermons when uploading or editing.

Assigning sermons to a series

Sermons are assigned to a series from the individual sermon upload or edit form — select the series from the Series dropdown. A series with no sermons assigned shows a count of zero in the Files column. See Upload sermon.

No sermons found

This displays all the sermons in that series on any page of your website. Paste it onto a dedicated series page, a small group study page, or anywhere you want to embed a specific series without showing the full sermon archive.

Deleting a series

Click Delete next to a series and confirm. The series record is removed — sermons previously assigned to it remain in the sermon listing but will no longer have a series assigned. They can be reassigned to another series by editing each sermon individually.

Series in the podcast feed

Each series can act as its own podcast feed — useful if you want to submit individual teaching series to podcast directories separately from your main sermon feed. The series shortcode page URL can be submitted as the podcast feed URL. See Podcasting for how to set up and submit podcast feeds.
