Adding and Editing Units

⭐ Premium

This screen lets you create a new unit or edit an existing one. Units are lightweight groupings for people in your directory — things like prayer triplets, Bible study pairs, or pastoral care clusters. See Units overview for context on when to use them.

Finding the form

To add a new unit go to Church Admin → Units → Add unit.

To edit an existing unit go to Church Admin → Units, find the unit in the list, and click Edit.

Fields

Name

The name of the unit — for example Prayer Triplets, Monday Bible Study, or North Zone. This is a required field and is what appears in the units list and anywhere the unit is referenced. Keep it clear and recognisable so administrators can tell units apart at a glance.

Description

An optional longer description of the unit’s purpose — for example Groups of three meeting weekly to pray together. This is shown in the units list to help administrators understand what each unit is for, particularly useful if you have several units with similar names.

Saving

Click Save. A confirmation message appears and you are returned to the units list where the new or updated unit appears. You can then edit it again to add people to it, or add people from individual directory records.

Adding people to a unit

The add/edit form only creates or updates the unit itself — name and description. People are added to a unit from the individual person’s record in the directory rather than from this form. Open a person’s edit screen in Church Admin → People, find the Units section, and assign them to the relevant unit there.

The Count column in the units list shows how many people are currently assigned to each unit, so you can quickly see which units are populated and which still need members added.
