Gift Aid CSV

⭐ Premium

The Gift Aid report CSV produces a spreadsheet of your Gift Aid donations for a date range and fund, which you can copy and paste into HMRC’s own Gift Aid claim spreadsheet. It’s one way to prepare a claim — but for most churches the HMRC Gift Aid Spreadsheet tool is the better option, as it builds the claim in HMRC’s exact format for you.

Which should I use?

Both tools cover the same donations, but they suit different needs:

  • HMRC Gift Aid Spreadsheet (recommended) — generates a ready-to-submit spreadsheet in HMRC’s required layout. This is the easiest and most reliable route for making a claim.
  • Gift Aid report CSV (this tool) — a plain CSV of the underlying data that you copy and paste into HMRC’s spreadsheet yourself. Useful if you want to see or adjust the raw figures, or you already work from your own copy of the HMRC template.

Before you start

Gift Aid must be switched on in your payment settings before you can use this report. If it isn’t, the page shows a prompt with a button to Set up payment gateway — set Gift Aid up there first, then come back.

Creating the report

Go to the Giving tab and open Gift Aid report CSV, then set:

  • Start date and End date — the period you’re claiming for.
  • Fund — choose a single fund, or All to include every fund.

Click the button to download the CSV. You can then open it and copy the rows into your HMRC Gift Aid claim spreadsheet.
