Reset Version

The Reset version tool clears the stored version number that Church Admin keeps for your site. Because the plugin runs its installation and upgrade routine whenever it notices the stored version is missing or behind, clearing it makes that setup process run again the next time the plugin loads. This is a repair tool, useful when an update didn’t complete cleanly.

When you’d use this

Church Admin normally runs its install/upgrade steps automatically when you update the plugin — creating or adjusting database tables, adding new options, and so on. Occasionally an upgrade can be interrupted or corrupted: a hosting timeout partway through, a partial file update, or a glitch that leaves the database not quite matching the new version. The usual sign is something that worked before an update behaving oddly afterwards, or errors that suggest a missing or out-of-date database table.

Resetting the version forces the setup routine to run again from the start, giving it another chance to put everything in place correctly.

How to use it

On the Reset version page, click the button to clear the stored version number. The install and upgrade process then fires automatically, and Church Admin re-checks and rebuilds anything it needs. Once it’s done, the version number is stored again and the plugin carries on as normal.

It’s safe to run: the setup routine is written to fill in what’s missing rather than wipe what’s already there, so your people, groups, calendar and other data are left intact. Even so, if you have a lot of data it’s always good practice to have a recent backup before running any repair tool.

If it doesn’t fix the problem

If resetting the version doesn’t resolve things, the next step is to turn on debug mode, reproduce the issue, and send the log to support so the team can see what’s happening.
