Sometimes you’ll want certain people to have a user account and be able to log in to your site — perhaps to see rotas, giving or group pages — but not to browse the full church address list. The Restrict access page lets you name those people, and they’ll be blocked from seeing the directory while keeping their other access.
When you’d use this
The address list holds everyone’s contact details, so it’s not always appropriate for every logged-in user to see all of it. You might restrict, for example, a children’s or youth worker who needs a login for rotas but shouldn’t have the whole congregation’s addresses, or someone in a safeguarding situation where contact details need to be kept apart. This gives you a simple way to make specific exceptions without changing anyone’s role or permissions.
Restricting someone
Go to the People tab and open Restrict access. In the People box, start typing a name and select the person from the list. You can add as many people as you need. When you’re done, click Save.
The people you list here will no longer be able to view the address list, even though they can still log in and use the other parts of the site available to them.
Removing a restriction
To give someone their directory access back, remove their name from the box and click Save. If you clear the box entirely and save, the restriction is lifted for everyone and no one is blocked from the address list.
