Subunits sit inside a unit and let you divide it into named groups. If a unit is Prayer Triplets, the subunits are the individual triplets — Monday Group, Tuesday Group, and so on. Each subunit has its own name, description, and membership list within the parent unit.
Finding the subunits screen
Go to Church Admin → Units and click on any unit name to open its subunits screen. The screen is headed with the parent unit’s name and shows all the subunits within it.
The subunits list
Each row in the table shows:
- Name — the subunit name
- Description — an optional description of this particular subunit
- Count — how many people are currently assigned to this subunit
- Edit — opens the subunit to update its name, description, or membership
- Delete — removes the subunit after confirmation
Adding a subunit
Click the Add [unit name] button at the top of the screen — the button label uses the parent unit’s name, so for a unit called Prayer Triplets the button reads Add Prayer Triplets. Fill in the subunit name and optional description and save.
Editing and deleting subunits
Click Edit to update a subunit’s name or description. Click Delete and confirm to remove a subunit. Deleting a subunit removes it and its membership assignments — the people themselves remain in the directory.
How units and subunits relate
Think of it as a two-level structure:
- Unit — the category or type, for example Prayer Triplets
- Subunit — the individual instance, for example John, Mary and Peter’s group
People are assigned to subunits rather than to the unit itself. The Count on the units list shows how many people are in all the subunits combined, while the Count on the subunits screen shows the membership of each individual subunit.
