The Church Admin contact form provides a spam-resistant enquiry form for your church website. Messages are saved to the database, emailed to a nominated recipient, and optionally sent as a push notification to the Our Church app — all without needing a third-party form plugin.
Adding the form to your website
Create a page on your website and add the shortcode or the Church Admin block:
Please log in
Or search for Church Admin in the Gutenberg block inserter and select the Contact Form option. The form is publicly accessible — visitors do not need to be logged in to use it. See Showing Church Admin elements on your website if you need help setting up the page.
What the form collects
The form presents the following fields to the visitor:
- Name — required
- Email — required; validated as a real email address format
- Phone — optional
- Subject — required
- Message — required
What happens when someone submits
- The submission passes through spam checks (see below)
- The message is saved to the Church Admin database
- An email is sent to the recipient configured in Contact Form Settings, formatted as a table showing all the submitted fields including the page the form was submitted from
- If a push notification recipient has been configured in the settings, a push notification is also sent to their Our Church app
- The visitor sees a thank you message confirming their message has been sent
If the same message is submitted twice — same name, email, subject, message, and IP address — the duplicate is detected and not saved or sent again.
Spam protection
The contact form has multiple layers of spam protection built in, which is why no CAPTCHA is needed. These include timing analysis, honeypot fields, dynamic form validation, URL detection in messages and subjects, a configurable blocked word list, email domain checking, and WordPress nonce verification.
When a submission fails a spam check, the form is redisplayed with any already-entered data preserved, so a genuine visitor who triggers a false positive can review and resubmit without having to retype everything.
The maximum number of URLs allowed in a message and the blocked word list are both configurable in Contact form settings.
Viewing submitted messages
All messages that pass the spam checks are saved to the database and can be reviewed in the admin dashboard at Church Admin → Contact Form. This gives you a permanent record of all enquiries received through the form, independent of your email inbox.
Configuring the form
The recipient email address, push notification recipient, spam word list, and URL limit are all configured in Church Admin → Contact Form → Contact form settings. See Contact form settings for the full configuration options.
