ParticipantAndy, Hi! I am really excited about the new “Volunteer for Ministry” shortcut that you included in Church Admin and the many other updates you have made recently! You are such an active developer that I am glad to support you through the monthly subscription of the Church Admin app. Thank you so much for all your hard work!!!
One request I did have about the Volunteer shortcode, is there any way to remove the heading “Volunteer for Ministry” from the shortcode and allow us to use our own heading. I request that for two reasons:
1. Our site uses colored headings and a very specific font and so it makes the “Volunteer” page seem out of place from the other pages on our site.
2. More importantly it seems that the word “volunteer” conveys the idea that a person has an option as to whether they want to be involved in serving in the the church or not. It is up to them because they are a volunteer. But as I read Scripture (1 Cor 12; Rom 12; Eph 4; 1 Pet 4) each Christian has been given a spiritual gift(s) to use in the local church. So to forego serving in the church is to deny an aspect of salvation that God has given to His people. So while we cannot make people serve, I do think that we have responsibilities as ministers of the gospel to help our people understand that using one’s spiritual gifts in the church is different than other kinds of service. For this reason, our church has been very careful to avoid the word “volunteer” because we want our people to understand that service is an outgrowth of the Christian’s salvation and is a privilege given to us by God.Thanks for listening to my little rant.
Even if you do not agree with my exegesis under point 2 above, I still make the request based on point 1. Thank you for considering this…and I appreciate your patience.
P.S. Is it also possible to customize the message that people see when they send in their request? Thank you!
