    I am having difficulties setting up my plugin so it will send out Comms and automatic reminders. I am on a Linux server. I had my hosting company help me set up Cron Jobs. I think we have that right except in the PDF instructions it had two lines of text to put in “Command to run” and there was only room for one line. We left off “/usr/local/bin/php -f” and put in the one starting with “/var/www/hosts…” Is that correct? Or do we put both of those lines on one line? I’m a little confused.

    Of course, right now it doesn’t seem to be working so I obviously don’t have it set up correctly yet.

    In Email settings, I chose “I want to use cron.” I put in the SMTP info too. Did I need to do that or is that supposed to be blank? Can you please help me figure this out? I would love to be able to use the automatic reminders for the Sunday school teachers!

    Ok, I read through more of the support questions and changed it so the two lines of instructions were all on one line like this: /usr/local/bin/php -f /var/www/hosts…”

    Now to wait until the top of the hour to see if it works.

    well, that didn’t help. I did get an error message for the first time, though. It said:
    -: /usr/local/bin/php: No such file or directory

    What next?

    Ok, I got another error message email and it says:
    -: /var/www/vhosts/my-directory-info-here/wp-content/plugins/church-admin/includes/cronemail.php: No such file or directory

    I have navigated to that directory and I can see that file.

    What am I doing wrong?

    I just can not get this to work. If I put in the strip that was given in the instructions (/usr/local/bin/php -f /var/www/vhosts/my-directory-info-here/wp-content/plugins/church-admin/includes/cronemail.php), then I get an email with the error message: No such file or directory.

    Working with my provider, they alternatively suggested this (wget -q -O /dev/null http://calvarydayton.com/pc/wp-content/plugins/church-admin/includes/cronemail.php). I get an email with my test message and it is all in html gibberish.

    Suggestions? I would really love for these auto email reminders to work!

    Been away a few days offline!

    So sounds like the hosting company have sorted getting cron working – I guess different hosts have different ways of making things work.

    Can you forward the email you got to clients at themoyles dot co dot uk please?

    No, we could not get it worked out. We could not get rid of the html gibberish and make the email legible. Nothing we did worked. I gave up.

    Emails are sent as html – does your client only accept plain text?

    I’ll work on sending them multi-part so they work in plain text only mail clients.
