    The returned page is 3 pages long but when I click on any of the numbers the url changes to …

    without the “/index.php” and, of course, i am directed to a 404.

    When I manual insert the “/index.php” all is well.

    Is this something I can remedy or is it your issue?

    Possibly, although it looks like your permalinks are setup strangely.
    Most installs don’t have index.php as part of the url. It’s hidden with some WordPress magic.
    Dashboard>Settings>Permalink then Month and Name is the default.

    Will also have a look why it’s not working properly though!! – EDIT It uses a WordPress default function to create the URL – so best to set your permalinks to the default way.

    Yes. You are correct it was the result of a custom Permalink setting. After I simplified our permalink setting the page works perfectly.
