I’ve created a test event with a chargeable ticket and a free ticket. “Buying” free tickets works brilliantly. The process works and the booking email is clear.
However, I experienced some issues trying to buy a paid ticket:
- When I tried without setting up a PayPal link, there was no note or option to “pay on the door” – just the book now button, which led to a critical error.
- I set up a PayPal link (one I have for another church). That gave me a Pay with PayPal and a Book Now button for paying later – which still gave me the same critical error.
- I tried a third time, just buying my ticket with PayPal. This worked (though I had to login to Paypal twice for some reason) but the booking email I received was blank other than the “Update which emails you receive” line.
Because this church doesn’t have a PayPal account of its own, I was hoping to put a link to a Stripe Payment Button in the booking email, so that the Book Now (but pay later) button would give that option. Obviously, if using that book now button is going to declare “critical error,” that’s not going to be possible.
