email discussion group

We have a “social” email group that works a little like a Google Group. Anyone who opts in can send and receive group email messages. There’s a single group email that users can subscribe to if they want to participate in these discussions. This is not quite the same as a bulk email list vis a vis MailChimp, because subscribers can send as well as receive messages. We use it to facilitate sharing and discussion among the community.

Additionally or alternatively, the group could act as an online discussion forum where subscribed users could post and read messages in a page on the website. An option for email notifications of new posts would make the functionality similar to above.

We are using a different plugin for this functionality right now, but thought it might be useful to others and a nice integration with Church Admin. Since Church Admin already employs a lot of email options, an email group like this could fit with the existing features well.
