    I would like to be able to get information about the app user using Javascript.

    Is there an array to read?
    Would it be better to grab the user id from localStorage and somehow resolve it via the WordPress API?

    I would love to be able to query ALL about the user. i.e. query via API to tell email, groups that they are in, classes, etc.
