    Hi,

For our website, I would like to have a protected part which is only to be viewed by our church members. However, I also would like to be able to generate actual address lists and even to be able to emial one or more of those members.

So actually what I am wondering is: Is it possible to connect/integrate the directory with the WordPress user registration feature?

If not, Are you planning to do this?

    Cheers,
    Eric

    Hi
I would be very interested in this for a couple of church sites I am working on.
If you need a tester, happy to help (software testing is what I do for a job)

    Regards
    Gary

Sorry… My project stood still for a while.
However, picked it up again ;-)

Great to hear you intend to to this.
While trying to be not too pushy on you (better call it eager to use), any idea on a estimated release date for this?

edit: I notice I started this under a different user id. Sorry . Appearantly forgotten I registered already.

    Hi,

    Installed the current version.
When I add new users, and generate a wp-user with it, wp sometimes only gives a white screen.
When entering 1 user the username generated conained spaces, with another one username was e-mailaddress. AmI doing something wrong?

    Great, thnx.
Can it also be possible to define your own id for new users?
Sometimes teenagers don’t have their own mailaddress yet (not all parents permit that) but do need to logon to see a roster or so. So I’ld like to me able to create logins based on 2 or 3 characters of the first name and 2 or 3 characters from the last name. That should unique enough.

    Cheers, Eric

I think that the creating wordpress users section is fixed now – please let me know.
But wordpress is pretty picky about creating users though – they have to have a unique email address, so they will have to share their parents login.

You can create users yourself in wordpress and all the plugin functionality will work for those users!

    Hi Andy,

    Been a while again.
Am trying to set up my church inside the plugin the way you said. So I created the wp users first. Then imported them in CA.
Then when I edited the first one, I got errors when saving.

    Household Details

    Add someone

Also , what is the difference between a mambertype and a ministry?

And how can I put existing users together in a household or add a new user to an existing household?

When you say “user” do you mean “wordpress user” or just adding someone to a household the directory?
Either way, that can be added easily

Both I guess. All WP user are churchmembers. I don’t mind if children already have an account ;-) But primairily church-admin members. However, when someone is a member as child, of course later on they need to be added as wp user some day nonetheless. Little children grow up, so the children of now are the ministers of tomorrow :-)

Also recently we had a wedding in our church. people from to households formed a new one.

Same goes for a household where babies are born. Households are organic, they grow and shrink.

is there a difference between Mailing List and Members? And in terms of displaying them on a page, does it matter?

ehout: I’ll work on adding users and merging households etc.
You can add, edit and delete people within a household easily. What needs adding in to the plugin is the ability to merge households!

desteele: “Mailing list” and “Members” are two default member types – you can have as many member types as you like.

We use “Mailing list” – for people just interested, “Visitor” for people who have come once, “Regular attender” for regular attenders and “Member” for members – the usefulness of member types is when sending out emails – as you can choose member type by checkbox you target who emails who goto. For instance a Christmas carol service gets sent to all member types, a members meeting to just “Members” etc. Hope that helps!
